5 reasons why blogging regularly is essential for your business

14 March 2018

All too often, we see blogs left alone and unloved. They collect dust in the corner of a website – last updated in December 2012. We get it – blogging can seem like a time-consuming, unnecessary and even daunting task. When you’ve got a business to run or a department to manage, it’s easy to see why your blog can find itself at the bottom of your list of priorities.

So, whether your blog could do with a little more love and attention or you’re yet to take the plunge and set up a blog for your company, here are just some of the reasons why updating your blog regularly is super important for your business…

It gives you credibility…

Blogs have become an important source of information online. In fact, they have been rated the 5th most trusted source of accurate online information.

With this in mind, posting regular, relevant, and useful blog content can go a long way to boosting your credibility. Who doesn’t want to be seen as an expert in their field? Of course, it’s not just about giving your ego a bit of a boost. Sharing your knowledge and skills will give your brand authority, boosting your reputation, and making you the first place your audience comes when they’ve got an issue you can help them to solve.

Articles such as ‘how to’ style posts and case studies are particularly effective in this department.

It gets you more leads…

The ultimate goal of any marketing campaign is to generate leads and customers. And did you know that B2B companies that blog generate on average 67% more leads per month than those that don’t, whilst B2C companies that blog generate 88% more leads per month than those that don’t?  What’s more, 82% of marketers who blog daily and 57% of marketers who blog monthly acquired a customer using their blog.

The numbers don’t lie!

It makes you more shareable…

In our increasingly social world, shareability is one of the keys to marketing success. And, if people find your blog posts interesting and believe they will be useful to others, they are likely to share them – enhancing the visibility of your brand and driving more traffic to your site.

However, the key here is to remember to make your content useful to your target audience – if it isn’t, don’t be surprised if it doesn’t get shared.

It’s relevant…

When it comes to content marketing, it’s safe to say that videos, images, and infographics are enjoying their fair share of the limelight. But that doesn’t mean that written content (aka you blog) has had its day – far from it! Written content is an essential part of any content marketing strategy, in fact, according to this insightful little study by the Social Media Examiner, 58% of marketers voted for original written content as the most important type of content.

And let’s not forget those all important website rankings…

Search engines love content. In fact, research shows that featuring a blog on your website will give you a 434% better chance of being ranked highly on search engines! And the higher up the search engines you rank, the more opportunities you’ve got to generate traffic and leads.

So, if you want to improve your SEO rankings (who doesn’t?), it’s essential that you regularly update your website with fresh, new, and relevant content. The easiest way to do this is through your blog.
